I’m a copywriter who sees opportunity in every assignment. A creative director who fosters great work out of all levels of creatives. And a presenter who sells work and raises a smile on the most stone-faced clients out there. I’ve tackled marcom assignments for Lucid Motors, LifeLock, and Pella Windows, and just finished up a trio of funny TV spots for Chewy.

Creative Director—Eleven Inc., San Francisco

March 2012–August 2022

I came to Eleven to help creative direct and write on several Apple business groups including Retail/Marcom, AppleCare, Education, and Recruitment. Beyond Apple, I was creative lead on the Dignity Health pitch and helped launch the “Hello humankindness” campaign into the world as co-creative director on the brand overseeing campaign creation in broadcast, video, social, digital, and traditional media. My other CD duties included Electrify America, Pella Windows, and TaylorMade Golf. Beyond wrangling creatives, I concepted and executed the “Sage the Owl” TV campaign for WGU, and helped out writing for just about every one of Eleven’s clients.                                   

VP/Creative Director—BBDO/SF

January 2004–March 2012

During my eight years at BBDO, I created and directed for Visa/Visa Business, E&J Gallo (Turning Leaf/Redwood Creek), Mars Petcare (Cesar/Nutro), Uncle Ben’s, California Lottery, Mitsubishi Motors, Harrah’s Resorts & Casinos, 8th Continent Soy Milk, and more. But my favorite work was launching a 45-foot paper airplane for Pima Air and Space Museum, creating spots for ProFlowers’ first-ever brand campaign, and unleashing various ridiculousness for Comcast SportsNet which included a contest for parents who conceived a child while celebrating the SF Giants 2010 World Series victory.

June 2002–August 2003

As ACD at Y&R, I had the honor of creating and producing TV and print for the first national brand for the NCAA. I also created ads for Jacuzzi and Hitachi Data Systems.                                          

VP/Associate Creative Director—Publicis & Hal Riney, San Francisco

August 1995–Feb 2002

Joining Hal Riney & Partners was an ad nerd’s dream. Over my seven years there I had the chance to work with and learn from so many talented people, including the legend himself, Hal Riney (so many Hal stories). I started as a senior copywriter working mostly on Saturn and Mirage Resorts. I also wrote for many accounts including Alamo Rental Cars, Sprint, America West Airlines, First Union Bank, Hewlett-Packard, and Peet’s Coffee. But my biggest moment was helping to launch GM’s EV1 electric car. Throughout my time at Riney, I moved up through the ranks to ACD, and eventually to VP/CD. Between the amazing clients and work that received national attention, it was a priceless experience that shaped my understanding of what great work is.
